Mitty was born on April 5, 1938 in Mahil Gal, East Punjab, India and then came to Canada in 1956 where he entered Victoria’s University Private Boy’s School (St. George’s) in Victoria BC, grade 11. He came with his brother-in-law to Kamloops and took grade 12 and part of 13 at KSS and completed grade 13 in Kelowna, during the summers while working for his brother-in-law in his furniture business. It was then that his plans of becoming a teacher changed to a life of selling furniture which he thoroughly enjoyed. He met his wife Mary in Prince George, through a sales contact and things progressed from there. They were married in Kitimat, in 1963. Later they moved to Penticton, then back to Prince George and finally settling in Kamloops in 1972. They moved to Richmond, and lived there from 1988-1993 and returned to Kamloops to their home in Valleyview in 1993.
