LEIF BERGET
1924 ~ 2010
Leif Berget of Kamloops passed away on Sunday, July 4, 2010 at 85 years of age. He is survived by his loving daughter Sandra (Kevin) Fertile, grandchildren Kyle and Sara, brothers Erik and Arne in Norway, and numerous other relatives all in Norway. He was predeceased by his loving wife Inger.
Leif was born in Hanestad, Norway. He served with the Norwegian Resistance during the Second World War and after that, went deep sea sailing. Leif’s travels brought him to the port of Vancouver where he met his wife Inger and they started a life together. Leif lived in BC since 1950 and worked as a mechanic on fishing vessels and eventually got a job with Westcoast Transmission. He lived with his family in many small communities in BC, and met many interesting people. He retired in 1986 to enjoy a life of fishing, hunting, the great outdoors and friends. Leif was very proud of his two grandchildren Kyle and Sara, who provided him with love and many hours of laughter. He was always interested in hearing about their lives and their soccer exploits.
He was an incredibly generous person and he will be missed greatly.
The Memorial Service will take place at 2:00 pm on Friday, July 9, 2010 in the Kamloops Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Mary Widmer officiating.
If friends so desire, donations in Leif’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 203-635 Victoria St., Kamloops BC V2C 2B3.
